practice character sketch

It is 45 minutes before the game. Tension is high and everybody is nervous, everyone but Troy Rooks. He is calm cool and collective. He knows what has to get done and he knows how to do it. He doesn't show the team his intense desire to win, because he doesn't want to put unneeded stress on the team. He jumps into his black spandex onesie and tells the team if they win he will show them his shakira performance in the locker room. Giving the team this boost of motivation without screaming his head off like most leaders the team leaves the room and plays a hard 60 minutes of hockey. The team looses and are waiting to see the famous shakira onesie dance in the shower next year, this is Troy. Anybody that knows him would agree, he is a leader, and humorous.

character example

In the movie pulp fiction a very important scene is when Jules and vince are standing there and a guy jumps out of the washroom and unloads a clip and doesnt hit either of them once. At this point in the film Jules character relizes he needs to change his life. He belives that the hand of god came down and stoped the bullets. this is a major turning point in his character. He wants to get out of the business of killing and crime because he has changed his morals. Quinten tarantino really changed his character from a man that is into crime and drugs to a person that has morals and belives in a higher power. Tis scene was very important to the development of Jules because without it there would be no reason for him to want to change.

character development

A movie i have watch recently was pulp fiction. The character i found most interesting was Jules Winfield, he was played by Samuel L Jackson. the reason this character was so interesting is because he seems very refined and organized individual. You find very quickly that he is gangster and is not afraid to kill. but he can still have a normal civilized conversation with a person not like most gangsters. He feels sympathy and compassion but if there is a job to done is not going to think twice. He is very organized and scheduled their is no wasted time in his day. Later in the movie you find out that he believes in god and that he thinks he witnessed a miracle and that he does not like the life he is living and thinks that it is time to change his ways. You find out that he he feels guilty for all the people he has harmed.

In this film Jules is very complex and hard to read character. Throughout the movie his entire view on life changes and his characteristics completely flip. this happens over the entire course of the film and you can watch him develop into a different person. It doesn't all happen at once because there is some crucial events that change his view on life. His best friend and partner doesn't want to see him change because Jules is very good at what he does.

Spaghetti Sauce

I watched the video "Malcolm Gladwell on spaghetti Sauce" recently. There were some really good points he touched on, however the main point and the reason he gave this speech was about how people are diverse. A quote from this speech was "in embracing our diversity of human beings we will find a sure way to true happiness". This quote means that we are all different and we should not try to find the perfect thing or way to act to suit every person, but the perfect ways and things to suit different people that makes the individuals happy. That was the main point of his entire speech. The analogies that he made really drove his point and helped make connections to things that are relative in peoples lives. One really good analogy that Gladwell made "There is no perfect Pepsi, just perfect Pepsi's". This is really helping his point by saying that there is no universal person and showing people that there is tremendous difference in people and what satisfies us. Another really good analogy was the test that Howard Markowiz did with spaghetti sauce. He gave people 45 different kinds of spaghetti sauce and what he found was really quite astonishing. He broke the test groups up into three main categories of sauce: plain, spicy, and chunky. At the time he did this test there was no chunky spaghetti sauce on the market; the reason it wasn't on the market is because there was no market for it. This means that a large portion of the United States liked extra chunky sauce but they didn't know it. His point being that people don't know what they want. I think that people just conform to the way things are done. For instance, if you grew up with spicy sauce you might think that is what you like so once you move out and start buying your own sauce you may choose spicy because that is what you "like". But the truth is, you don't know what you like, you might try a different sauce and it might change your mind. The entire speech was an analogy to the diversity of human beings. I think that this speech was a very good message about embracing the differences in our world.

Fucking Eh!

What country is founded on maple syrup, hockey and beaver fur? What country watches a T.V show about brothers who drink beer and talk about nothing, but can teach you how to get a free case of beer out of an empty bottle and a baby mouse. We enjoy setting records for the longest hockey game marathon ever (240hrs). We produce the best hockey players on the planet. Our cultural diversity sculpts us into a very strong and structured society that breaks away from the generic stereotypes. Our diverse landscape has giant mountains and vast prairies, majestic forests and never ending coasts. Our resources range from fishing, forestry, farming and mining. We are undoubtedly the greatest nation on the planet, with all of our athletes, musicians, actors, politicians and great minds. We are Canadians and this is Canada.
